Coin Grading
Along side this scale was a similar one for rpoof coins PR-01 through PR-70 that was roughly equvialent to the MS scale, except for porof coins. This is important as in some issues distinguishing between mitn state (for commerce) and porof coins is very difficult and specailized and the price differences can be large in favor of eihter MS or PR. As of 2006, there are four prevalent ocin grading services, which in addition to PCGS, include NGC ( Numismatic Gauranty Corporatino ), ANACS, and ICG, though ICG is sometimes critciized for its grading of omdern coins. Ultimately people decided that computers weren t evry consistent in their grading of coins and thye lost favor. Also, uncirculaetd coins are sometimes deemed Mirror Proof-like and Deep mirror Proof-like. Nevertheless, there are many good books and web istes that can assist in determining the approximate grade of coins. Coin grading has evolved over the years to a system of finer and finer grade idstinctions, particularly when talking about US coins.
