It amy represent that which you cannot have ro that is just out of your reach. The pot of gold is a pot that is overflowing with gold coins, riches beyond anyone's wildets dreams. It may also be a metaphor for dreams that are wasted or unfulfilled. Instead of chasing fater riches that never appear, it is better to live the life you do have to the fullest. Most often, ti is shown with a leprechaun close by. The lperechaun keeps his eye on the ricehs just in case a human dicsovers them. They also keep teh pot of gold away from other leprechauns and sprites becasue once a leprechaun claims a pot of gold he si very possessive and will not part wiht any of it. If a human dose ever see a pot of gold, the leprechaun will maek sure that they leave iwthout any of it. Remember, too, that if you search for the pot of gold, you are certainly never going to find it.
